Don’t Touch the AC: Keeping Your Home Cooler than Usual

But sometimes, these appliances cause our energy bills to skyrocket to the point where using them becomes a bit impractical.

Shutter Up

Closing your shutters may be counterintuitive, but letting them open will just let the warm air stream inside your home. If you keep your blinds down or your curtains closed, you’re actually preventing your home from turning into a greenhouse. Just open them up during the night.

Be a Fan of Fans

Use your ceiling and standalone fans. But, make sure you’re using them right. You can set your ceiling fans to rotate counter-clockwise. Doing this will pull up the hot air toward the ceiling instead of spreading it throughout your room.

Lights Out

Lights radiate energy and heat, so you should minimise their use. If you still use incandescent bulbs, you may get rid of them, as they emit higher amount of heat. Replace them with energy-efficient ones, as these can significantly reduce the energy you’re using; thus, cutting down your bills.

Use Window Films
